Goodbye Summer, hello Magic Kingdom

After a summer spent watching a lot of movies, doing a lot of nothing, and freaking out in general the time has finally come. My car is packed (again) and I will be getting up bright and early tomorrow to drive up with my friend Sierra to go to Anaheim where I will be starting my Disney College Program. I'm excited, nervous, and happy but I'm also freaking out.
Actually, I'm freaking out a lot.
I probably won't be able to sleep tonight.
But can you blame me?
I'm going to be starting the Disney College Program tomorrow! That is just one of many reasons for me to be excited and I'm going to be living with my best friend for the next six months which is pretty darn cool. I really can't believe it.
Here's to hoping that its all as awesome as I hope its going to be. -Cambria

21 more days!

Ah. There are only 21 more days until I start my Disney College Program experience which is literally three weeks. As I said before nothing really interesting has happened to write about but I did get an e-mail from Disney which was about registering for classes. I am so excited and kind of having this weird out of body experience right now because it doesn't feel like it should be happening to me. It feels like it should be happening to someone else. Never once have I been able to do something like this so it is pretty amazing. I just hope that it all works out like I want it to and that I actually enjoy myself as well as work hard.

So I was going to post...

So I was going to post but there has been NOTHING to write. I've been doing a whole lot of nothing this summer. Sleep has taken up a majority of my time. Oh yeah, and Tumblr which I've become seriously addicted to. See here: http://www.thefilmcanister.tumblr.com. Its on Old Hollywood, by the way.
But I have been getting bombarded with e-mails by Disney. I kind of expected this though. There are only three more weeks until I go and I still have to get renters insurance. Yikes. There was a weird timing thing I had to wait for because of when I looked into it. But still, I'd better remember to do that. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be either.
Oh yeah, and I saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part Two which was great but that isn't really Disney related. I am horrible at blogging. This is why I like tumblr. Its short and concise. All you do is post a picture and write a caption if you want. Oh well.
Once I actually have stuff to write maybe I will write more.

Roommate Results

Just got my Roommate Results from Disney. My friend Sierra and I are officially roomies. But there are about three other people we'll be living too. Still, I'm happy everything worked out. It's going to be so much easier going down there and having a friend to count on especially as we'll both be alone during the holidays. I'm so excited.
Actually going to hang out with Sierra today so we'll probably be talking about Disney the whole time. Ah, August 14th needs to get here faster.

Being Back and Job Hunting

So I finally got back to San Diego on Tuesday. It is so weird being home again after having been away for two years. For some reason I expected everything to be different but somehow everything is the same. I spent Wednesday shopping with my Mom and my friend Sierra to get some stuff that I needed that I couldn't really afford without my Mom there. I got my business outfits that I'll need for the program and some other things too. Then we went to go see Fast Five/Fast and the Furious five which was pretty good for an action flick and a sequel, especially considering we hadn't seen the others AT ALL. But my Mom left this morning and is on her way back in Montana. It is weird being somewhere that she isn't.
I've been trying to look for a job but its so frustrating. I'm going to have to be very, very careful with my money this summer. I just wish August 14th would get here already. I'm so excited!

California!

I am back home again! I left Montana on Tuesday although for a while it seemed like I would never leave. My parents and I had to pack up my apartment and make sure it was clean and everything. Then my parents had a mare that was supposed to have its foal and it didn't so my Mom and I were waiting for it to but it never did and still hasn't. Anyway, after the worlds longest road trip my Mom and I finally got into California.
We've been spending some time with my Aunts. Its been fun but kind of tiring at the same time because there is so much going on and I'm not used to it.
In Disney related news there was a mix up with my best friends arrival date but everything has been squared away and we are set to arrive on the same day so hopefully we can be roommates. We start the program August 14th. I'm so excited.
I'm staying with some friends for the summer before my program actually starts though. Because of my parents work they couldn't drive down with me when I was supposed to arrive so I'm here earlier than I should be. I had to drive down so I could have my car because my plan is to hopefully stay after the program.
Anyway thats all thats been going on so far. I've been horrible at updating this thing but considering I have all of one person that reads it I don't think its that big of a deal. Until later.

Where Ursula demands your soul

So I actually have something related to the Disney College Program to post about. I just got an e-mail about housing. Basically, it's an agreement between you and Disney and it determines how you will be paying for your rent. You print it, sign it, and then send it back to them. Pretty simple. There's also a way for your parents to recieve follow up e-mails about the program and stuff if they want too. So nothing too interesting but I thought I would post since it was something.

The Princess and The Pixie

I'm trying to keep up with posting on this blog but there hasn't been much to post. So I'm just going to keep on posting my artwork and Disney related stuff until I've got something else to write about in here.

E-mails and roommates

Wow. Its been a while since I've written anything but there hasn't really been anything to report. Plus, I've only got one follower so I'm mostly doing this for myself and I haven't felt the need to write anything lately. The last thing that happened when I wrote was that I got my purple folder. Since then I've gotten an e-mail from the program. It basically said they'd be sending me a few of those and they'd cover things that I would need for the program. There was also a link to a welcome video for participants. Nothing too exciting really.
I also had to change where I'm staying for the summer AGAIN. I will be staying at a friends house in June instead of my Dads due to some complications that came up. Family drama, oh what fun. Anyway I'm happier about where I'm staying now because its closer to my best friend and its in the town that I used to live in. So I get to go back and see all my friends again before the program starts.
Speaking of the program starting my arrival date was actually changed from the 17th to the 14th. Apparently my friend accidentally put down the 14th as her arrival date so in order to be roommates I have to arrive on the same day as her. Not that I've got a problem with it that just means I get there earlier than I expected. Yayness!
Thats about it for now. I'll post more when I've actually got something to post.

Things I need to do before Disney

I don't arrive at Disneyland until August 17th but I'm going to California earlier than that because I'm staying with family/friends over the summer vacation. So everything is coming up pretty quick and this is my list of things I need to do:
1) Get renters insurrance
2) Pack up apartment slowly so I don't have to do it all at once
3) Find a temporary job so I can have a little bit of extra cash for the summer
4) get school transcripts
5) get letters of recommendation from teachers/work just in case
6) get car checked up before trip
That's about it I think. There are probably a million more things that I have to do that I'm forgetting but that's all I can think of right now. My school gets out May 13th and I leave the first week of June. I can't believe how close everything is. I'm excited but I'm also completely nervous at the same time.

The Color Purple

So a few days ago my Mom came into town and delivered my mail. Guess what was in there? It was my pretty, purple folder. Technically its purple and green but oh well. There wasn't anything too exciting in it. It was just an acceptance letter and an overview of information that you can pretty much find on the website. It just goes into a little bit more detail than the website does.
I also figured out where I'm staying for the summer. I'm spending June at my dads and then July-August with my friend Sierra. So I've got two more months in Montana and I've only got a month and a half left of school. I'm so excited.

More Art

I seem to be posting art in this more than anything else. Once I actually have more stuff about the college program I will post that but until then I might as well post something. One of these days it will be something other then Rapunzel but at the moment I am obsessed. :)

A Clip A Day Keeps The Boredom Blues Away

I highly doubt anyone is actually reading this but I'm keeping it up anyway. Its fun and it passes the time. Plus, I view it as a writing exercise and considering the fact that one of my dream jobs is to be an author any writing experience I can get will definitely be a big help. Anyway my friend Sierra, who is doing the program with me, paid her acceptance fees yesterday so she is "officially" going. I'm so excited. Now we're both counting down to August 17th!
To pass the time I've been drawing a lot, keeping busy with school, and watching a lot of Disney clips/movies online. Its been fun. I remembered my love of Dumbo when I watched it again after not having watched it in years. When I was little the ride was my favorite and so was the film. I'm not entirely sure why I'm so attached to Dumbo. Maybe its the fact that he is just so darn cute. :)
Whatever the reason I love the little guy.
One Disney movie I didn't really love though (please don't hate me, its just my personal opinion) was Wall*E. Two hours of watching a little robot talk in a weird little voice just wasn't my version of entertainment. Despite this though, I do find the character likable I just won't be watching the movie anytime soon.
I did find this online a while ago and I thought it was adorable:

Waiting, freaking out, and other stuff

I cannot believe its still only March. I'll probably be saying the same thing in April. I can already tell this month is going to go by torturously slow. I desperately want my purple folder but I'm pretty sure that I won't get it for a while.
As I wait, I'm freaking out which is never a good thing. I'm freaking out about whether or not I'm going to like my job/roommates. I'm freaking out about really living on my own for my first time. Because while I do have my own place at the moment my parents are still only thirty minutes away and one of my aunts is even less. Plus I have a really great landlord thats right next door. This time there will be several whole states between my parents and me. I'll have to work on saving money which I won't have very much of and I'll have to drive in gulp California traffic which I only did a few times when I lived there because I didn't manage to get my license until I moved to Montana where traffic is like five cars ahead of you.
I'm also freaking out because I'm planning on staying in California after the College Program is over and I have no clue how I'm going to do that. So in general, there is a lot of freaking out all around. Are you freaking out about anything while you wait?
And here is something else I'll leave you with:

Who wants to go to Wyoming?

Ugh just about describes my morning. I had a job interview bright and early at Cold Stone which I had to sing (badly, and I wasn't the only one thank goodness) and recite Shakespeare. Don't ask its way too complicated to explain. I'm pretty sure I didn't get the job though. While it would have been nice to have some cash flow, I've decided that I'm okay with not getting it because a) I didn't want to work there anyway and b) I'm leaving in a few months to go to California, so who cares?
And if you are wondering about the title of this blog entry (my one follower, yayness to my one follower) you can find out exactly why its called that here:

Bad Squishy

My first week of waiting after being accepted is over. It seemed to be unusually long. I just hope the rest of the weeks aren't like that. Thank goodness I have school to keep me busy for a few months otherwise I would go completely crazy. I don't know what I'm going to do when summer comes though. Hopefully I'll have a job and that will be my distraction. If I got my purple folder that might make things a bit easier on me. Though it probably will be at least another month before I get it because mail is so slow where I am at.
And here is another fun video I found of  the Alice in Wonderland characters at Disneyland just having fun:

So the count down begins

I cannot believe its only been six days since I found out that I got accepted and two days since I found out my best friend did. It seems like its been a whole lot longer. I wish that it had been. Its going to be hard to wait. Though I have been keeping myself entertained by watching every Disney video I can get my hands on including of the characters at the parks. Here is a cute one with Alice, The Mad Hatter, and Ariel: Alice, The Madhatter, and Ariel

My art

So I've been drawing Disney art a lot lately. As it turns out, its a good way to pass the time while I'm waiting anxiously for August 17th to come. Please excuse the poor quality of some of these. The pictures of them were taken with my cell phone. Also I make no claims to be a great artist. These were done just for fun and I know there is room for improvement on a lot of them. Here are a few of the things that I've done:

What does custodial DO exactly?

So ever since I found out that I will be working Custodial I've been trying to learn more about it. I know so far that involves a) cleaning and b) walking around a lot. The more I've looked into it though the more people kept on saying that it involved guest interaction. All I could think was, 'How does cleaning involve guest interaction?' Then I found a video on youtube the other day that goes a little more into detail about what Custodial does. Now obviously, they have to make it look extremely cool for the video which was filmed for Walt Disney World. The Custodial position in Disneyland might be a little different. However if Custodial is anything like the video I found it might actually be fun, plus I totally get why I was assigned to it now. I volunteered as a tour guide in high school and worked as one during this last summer and Custodial apparently also greets guests, so I guess its a little bit like being a tour guide. The video makes it look fun at any rate and I really hope it is. I know it will involve things like cleaning bathrooms and stuff but I'm hoping to find a way to make it as enjoyable as possible.
So here is a video on Custodial:

More excitement!

Oh my gosh. As if things weren't exciting enough getting into Disney, I just got a call from my best friend and she got accepted too. So we're both going to be working at Disneyland together. Unfortunately she's not working in Custodial like me she's a concession stand hostess. But I'm still so happy for her! I'm hoping that we can room together. I already did my official registration but she hasn't yet so she's going to request me as her roommate.
This is quite possibly the most awesome thing thats happened to either of us and we're both super excited. We talked for what must have been about two hours on the phone.
In other news, there actually was some Disney related stuff at the Oscars. Disneys Toy Story 3 won Best Animated Feature and best song. Tangled was also nominated in the Best Song category too and really, I'm surprised it didn't win. Oh well.
Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi the stars of Tangled also performed "I See the Light" together too which was awesome.
Enough about that though. I'm so totally, happy because my friend and I are going to be working at Disneyland. Anyone else in the program with a friend too?

Its official!

I officially accepted my place today with the college program. My parents helped pay the program fees with the promise that I'll pay them back when I've got the money. Hopefully I'll find a job before I go so I can do that and then save up some extra cash just in case something happens while I'm down there. I'm lucky because I actually have family and friends nearby that live in California so if something goes wrong I can always go to one of them if I absolutely have to. Still I think its best to have money saved up just in case. I already have some but extra cash is always good.
I'm so excited and I can't stop talking about it. Although fortunately for me I do have something else to take my mind off of it at least for today which is The Academy Awards/Oscars. A lot of my favorite actors are nominated, including Colin Firth and Helena Bonham Carter which is absolutely amazing because I've been big fans of theirs for years. I'm hoping they'll both win or at the very least that Colin Firth will because he totally deserves it.
Okay, I'm done not talking about Disney related stuff. Actually I'm just done talking in general. I'll post again when I actually have something to write about...or perhaps I'll just do an Oscar related blog for the fun of it while I wait for that infamous purple folder to come in the mail.

Oh dear, not another one

I know what your thinking...here we go again, another blog about the Disney College Program. Except this one is going to be a little different. Why is it going to be different you ask? Because this blog will not be about the Walt Disney World College Program that everyone knows and loves. This blog will be about the lesser known, but still pretty darn fun, Disneyland College Program. You know the one that's over at the OTHER park otherwise known as the one that started it all that's in a place called Anaheim, California.
If you want to get technical about when my program with Disney started it was actually a while ago. I applied last year but I didn't find out I was in until last august when I had already registered for school and so I wasn't able to go. This time around things went differently.
I had my interview on January 28th, 2011. Funnily enough the woman that interviewed me was the same woman who interviewed me before. She recognized my name (Cambria isn't one you hear often) and the stuff on my application which was a bit odd for a 20 something college student. I've worked and volunteered at two historical museums as a tour guide which I had put on my application and she was extremely interested in that so we talked about my work there a lot because my job required a) interaction with guests and b) dressing up in costume.
We then went over the different jobs I'd listed and she explained a little bit about each one, then asked me questions about things that might happen on the job and if I'd be comfortable cleaning (because I put custodial as one of my picks). All stuff you've probably heard before if you've read the other blogs like I did.
Then she went over some more program stuff and that was it. It was pretty painless.
I then had a long, torturous four weeks of waiting to find out if I was in the program. I'm not going to lie. I went mad as a hatter for a little bit. I did everything from make Disney fanart to keep myself entertained to watch any Disney video I could find online including of the parades and things. As a bonus though, I did find some pretty cool websites like doombuggies.com which is a website dedicated to one of my favorite attractions the haunted mansion. I also had a couple sleepless nights thinking that I wasn't going to get in.
Then yesterday while still in my Disney Obsession mode and drawing fanart (*cough*badly*cough) my cell phone starts playing "Come as you are" by Nirvana because its my ringtone and answered it thinking it was probably my Mom or a wrong number or something. Only it wasn't my Mom or a wrong number. Nope, it was the Disney College Program calling to tell me I was accepted. I had to contain my urge to scream into to the phone. Only after the guy was done telling me I was in and that my job was custodial and I hung up did I allow myself to scream.
After I called everyone I knew and after about an hour of not having anyone answer, I finally got hold of my Mom and then eventually my best friend and there was lots of excited screaming over the phone. So yes, I'm in the DisneyLAND College Program. Yes, I will be detailing my adventures here in this blog....to the five people that will probably read it.
